Housewives and single women who are not normally a part of the labor force are in stores and plants to help out and earn extra Christmas spending money for themselves. Packing, mailing, clerking and wrapping their way through the season, part-time employees at Johnson Hill's Department Store work an average of 20 hours per week. Pete Rakitzke, assistant personnel manager, reports that Johnson Hill's sells about as much merchandise from October to January as it does during the other seven months of the year.
